Fariba Dalir has been pardoned and released from Evin Prison, just one day after another Christian prisoner, Nasser Gol-Tapeh, was also unexpectedly released from Tehran’s Evin Prison.
On December 4th, 2021, the courts convicted Fariba to five years in prison for “acting against national security by establishing and leading an Evangelical Christian church”. She turned herself in to Evin Prison to begin her prison sentence on 16 April, 2022. Her sentence was later reduced to two years as the judge had wrongly supposed she had a previous criminal record.Fariba is now safely home with her husband Soroush and daughter Arezoo.
