Christian convert Aida Najaflou was arrested on February 6, 2025 and taken to Evin Prison in Tehran where she was interrogated for weeks before being transferred to the women’s ward due to her family being unable to pay her bail.
 
She is facing multiple charges, including  “acting against the Islamic Republic” and “collusion against the regime” for actions such as praying and baptizing others as well as sharing Christian content online.
 
On 23 June, 2025, Aida was transferred to Qarchak Women’s Prison along with more than 60 female prisoners, after the gates of Evin Prison were struck by a missile during the 10-Day War. Qarchak Women’s Prison is reportedly overcrowded with filthy living conditions.
 
Aida is the mother of two boys aged 10 and 13 years.
