On August 19, 2021, Li Chenhui and her husband Chang Yuchun were sentenced to 7 years in prison for ‘Illegal business operations’, and  fined $34,800 each. They appealed their sentence, but their appeals were denied.

Before her arrest, Li Chenhui was the supervisor of a Christian book printing company that she and her husband Chang Yuhan had established in 2015. Since it’s establishment, their company had printed and sold large numbers of Christian books. They had also taken risks in printing theological books related to Christianity which met the needs of many churches.

The printing company attracted the attention of local authorities in Xi’an city which resulted in the company being closed down in July 2021. More than 210,000 copies of various Christian books were confiscated, and 24 books were later deemed to be illegal publications.

Li Chenhui and her husband have four children. According to China Aid, the children are currently living with their grandparents.
