Charged with:
"underming the solidarity policy"
On May 13, 2013, Pastor Y Yich was arrested and accused of “undermining the solidarity policy”.
On November 14, 2013, Pastor Y Yich was sentenced to twelve years in prison plus three to five years probation for spreading Degar Protestantism, using the internet to communicate with Montagnard pastors and FULRO reactionaries in the US and meeting with former prisoners of conscience.
Pastor Y Yich served as a pastor in the Degar Protestant Church before his arrest. He has been repeatedly harassed over the decades for his religious activity. Since his latest imprisonment, Vietnamese authorities have reportedly tortured Pastor Y Yich, leading to deteriorating health conditions, while also denying him access to medical care. He reportedly suffers from high blood pressure, rheumatism and stomach inflammation.
