Chinese Sample Letter
On August 7, 2021, Pastor Wang Xiaoguang, the co-founder and senior pastor of Golden Lampstand Church in Linfen, Shanxi, was detained on charges of ‘fraud’, which is how the Chinese Communist Party characterizes the collection of tithes in the church.
 
Pastor Wang was detained for three years and eight months before being sentenced to nine years and seven months in prison. His wife Yang Rongli was also sentenced to 15 years in prison. Wang Xiaoguang’s son reported that his father considered it “a great honor” to be put on trial for the Lord, and he used his time in court as an opportunity to share his faith.
 
According to China Aid, Pastor Wang Xiaoguang’s trial was merged with his wife Yang Rongli’s case and proceeded after multiple postponements with defense lawyers excluded from the courtroom
