Siu Nheo | Vietnam: Likely released

Siu Nheo is an evangelical pastor. In 2004 he and others participated in a demonstration advocating for religious freedom in the face of government suppression. As a result he was arrested in August 2010 and sentenced in April 2011 to 10 years imprisonment with three years house arrest on release. He was convicted under Article 87 (Undermining the unity policy) of the 1999 Penal Code. During his imprisonment, his wife and children were the victims of harassment and deprivation of basic necessities. He was likely released in 2021 to continue to serve out his three years house arrest.
