Mina Khajavi is currently being held at Qarchak Prison according to Article 18. Other reports say that the women who were abruptly and forcibly transferred from Evin Prison to Qarchak Prison, were initially confined to the gymnasium which lacked even the most basic facilities, including beds, before being moved to the quarantine ward where they continue to be held in conditions which fail to meet even minimum living standards. Qarchak is the only all-women’s prison in Iran, located in Veramin about 35 kilometers southeast of Tehran. Overcrowding, filthy living conditions and the mistreatment of inmates make it a living nightmare according to WNCRI.
